EU delegation meets with Ukrainian diaspora in Antalya

At the end of October, with the assistance of the Consulate of Ukraine in Antalya, a breakfast meeting was held between representatives of the European Union delegation in Turkey and representatives of the Ukrainian community, business, theater, scientific and student communities.
As Ukrinform reports with reference to the Business Woman magazine, the informal breakfast was held in a warm atmosphere, but focused on urgent and serious issues. Representatives of 14 EU member states took part in the dialogue.

Ukrainians shared their experience of their civic activities and spoke about projects aimed at preserving national identity and promoting Ukrainian culture in Turkey.

Among the key topics of discussion were: forced migration and education issues, the development of cultural diplomacy, countering disinformation and propaganda regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine, as well as the need to strengthen Ukraine’s information presence in Turkey.

Kateryna Samoilyk, Deputy Head of the NGO “Ukrainian Family”, presented the bilingual international Ukrainian gloss “Business Woman”, presenting copies to the Head of the EU Delegation Jurgis Vilcinskas and the Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of Portugal Rosa Lemos Tavares.

The event also had a symbolic part: a ceremony of planting the Friendship Tree took place in the Ukrainian Culture Park in Antalya, which became a bright symbol of unity and solidarity. Representatives of the EU delegation also inspected the progress of the renovation of the park, which is being carried out by the Consulate, and highly appreciated the artistic paintings of the gazebos, made by students of Dragomanov University.

The organizers emphasized that such events are “an important step towards strengthening partnership relations and strengthening international solidarity with Ukraine”.

Let me remind you that in October, a diplomatic reception was held in the Turkish capital on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. The event took place at the embassy and was held under the concept of “Ukraine is…” – a presentation of Ukraine as a modern, innovative, hospitable and invincible state.
